Not all web designers are the same…Meet a specialist.
Travel and hospitality
The travel and hospitality industry is huge and competitive and the vast majority of its business is done on line. The hotel industry is under attack from huge discount websites who want the best rooms, at peak periods, whilst teaching the public that a deal is available, always, driving down prices and ultimately standards.
These major players are also impacting on restaurants and tourist attractions too, never has your online reputation management been more of a priority. Social and interactive, consumer review driven, media is the single most important asset (if managed correctly) or threat to any tourism related business.
It is as ridiculous to expect that an all round web designer who designs sites for any product or industry could even begin to grasp the concepts involved in travel and tourism. So what you often get is generic, uninspired and frankly, often invisible to the target market, built by a guy who disappears as soon as the final payment is made.
We don’t do that. The first thing you must understand is that your website is a relationship, not a purchase. The second thing you must understand, in the days of social media and guest review sites, is that your website alone is simply not enough. You need a comprehensive and dynamic web presence, using all the social media opportunities that exist and constant monitoring of your on-line reputation on the significant review websites such as tripadvisor.com. See the Un-social media page for more info about this opportunity (and indeed threat).
Niche products
I absolutely love designing for niche products and have become an expert on a lot of things I wouldn’t have if I had not done some of the niche sites, Bass Fishing Lures, artificial turf and recently something called agarwood are a few of the things I now know a little too much about. But this is the fun of making niche sites, learning about a new product. As most of their competitors websites have been designed by someones nephew, they are also typically very easy to establish front page listings in the search engines for too and that is a very good thing indeed. Got a niche product? Get a niche designer.
